Unique and rewarding Outdoor Instructor position available
We are seeking an Instructor to join our team on a permanent contract.
* This position has the potential to be either a Lead instructor, Instructor or mixed role.
* Starting on 3 fixed days per week, with the potential to increase to 4 days from
term 3. Monday to Friday only, 8 hours per day.
* On the job training and full support will be provided to the right candidate.
* Ideal start date is by the end of May 2026.
You will be part of a small supportive team who are committed to providing meaningful programs and an organisation who is committed to provide ongoing training in this specialised area.
We need someone who is flexible, adaptable, patient, friendly and open to being a long term team member – more than 1 year commitment.
Ideally candidates will have:
* A relevant qualification eg outdoor recreation, adventure therapy, disability support.
* NZOIA awards (rope and bush) preferred but not essential, or equivalent qualifications.
* Some experience in instructing programmes.
* Skills and experience instructing in a variety of pursuits (rock, bush, water, ABL etc).
* Have experience with or demonstrate knowledge of working with people with intellectual disabilities.
* Full NZ drivers licence.
* First Aid Certificate (outdoor preferred) or willing to attain.
* Be flexible, adaptable, patient and friendly.

Learn Active is always happy to hear from people who are looking to volunteer with Learn Active.
Our volunteer days are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm during term time. We do have shorter-term commitments available during the school holidays.
