Learn Active is a registered charity that provides outdoor education opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities.
Our mission is to give students with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to explore and have fun in the outdoors while learning new skills, meeting new friends and achieving goals.
Karla Roberts – Managing director
Karla Roberts is the managing director of Learn Active. She holds a number of professional qualifications from NZOIA and has extensive experience working with intellectually disabled young people in outdoor education.
Molly Ngatai – Lead Instructor
Molly has over 5 years experience developing and running adventure based programmes for children and youth in outdoor contexts. She is passionate about making the outdoors more accessible to people from all walks of life.
Molly has also recently gained a Bachelor of Occupational therapy.
We are looking forward to Molly starting full time at Learn Active at the beginning of 2017.
Qualifications gained: Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Diploma in Outdoor leadership and management, NZOIA rock, abseil and bush leader.
Christie Foote – Instructor
Christie has been with Learn Active for over 2 years and holds an outdoor education qualifications including 2 NZOIA awards. She is passionate about promoting and encouraging personal development with people who have an intellectual disability.
Qualifications gained: Diploma in Adventure Tourism, NZOIA bush leader.
